Our Story
From prime‑time TV sets to laptops worldwide, Acting Academy began with a simple promise: to make top-tier drama training accessible to every aspiring actor, no matter where they live. In the 1990s and early 2000s, our founder Mark Pegg was a familiar face on British screens—Alfie Kane in EastEnders and Tony Wier in the BAFTA‑winning Our Friends in the North. After producing feature films and BAFTA-shortlisted documentaries, he realised that thousands of talented performers were excluded from traditional drama schools due to cost and geography.
In 2020, the online curtain rises. Mark launched Acting Academy as a fully digital drama school alternative, combining weekly video lessons with live tutorials and affordable weekend workshops. The aim was—and still is—to offer students the same rigour as a three-year conservatoire programme, but at a fraction of the cost and with complete scheduling flexibility.
Our curriculum today blends technique, craft, and industry know-how: Stanislavski, Meisner, camera work, voice, movement, and the “business of acting.” Students can take LAMDA graded exams up to Level 8, showcase in-person performances for agents and casting directors, and receive personalised feedback on every self-tape.
We’ve built a five-star community. Over 75 countries are now represented in our virtual classrooms, and our Trustpilot rating stands at 4.9/5 (“Excellent”) with 98% five-star reviews—proof that an inclusive, supportive environment accelerates growth both on and off stage.
Looking ahead, we’re expanding workshops across the UK and introducing on-camera intensives in Los Angeles and Madrid, all while maintaining our monthly fee lower than a single traditional masterclass. Because great storytelling belongs to everyone—and so should great training.
